John Swenson

Are you looking for someone to take your game to the next level? Well, look no further. Schedule a lesson with our teaching pro, John Swenson, to help you play better and have more fun today. John has been teaching golf for over 40 years. He is widely known as an outstanding communicator and makes golf fun for his students. He was honored as the "Ping Club Fitter of the Year" in 1999.

John has also authored his own instruction manual, "Keep It Simple...Swing It Free." He has taught Crystal Lake resident and now PGA Tour Member Joe Affrunti since he was 6 years old. John is also Lexi Harkins' instructor. Lexi just played in the U.S.G.A. Women's Amateur Championship featuring the top 156 amateur female golfers in the world. Lexi made it to the final 16 before being knocked out by the No. 1 ranked player.

Mike Tepps

Mike Tepps has been a teaching professional since 1998 and a former PGA Professional who started his golf business career at Chalet Hills Golf Club in 2000 and continued on as Head Professional at Terrace Hill Golf Course and Red Tail Golf Club before moving to Poplar Grove in 2024. Mike is also a master club fitter who specializes in club repair and regripping.

Mike is very excited to be teaching at Timber Pointe and looks forward to getting to know more of our members and their guests. When not on the teaching tee, he can be found working in the Golf Shop or out on the course as one of our Rangers.

He hosts kids' and ladies' clinics throughout the season and is available for one-on-one instruction. Keep an eye out for his spring lesson specials and group clinics once the season starts.
